Overview

The Early Intervention Program provides developmental and educational services to Greene County children younger than three years old who have developmental delays.

Services are offered at NO COST to all clients, regardless of the family’s income. Children qualify based on the results of a full developmental assessment. Following the development of an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP), sessions are provided at the convenience of the family in the child’s home or day care setting.

ALL children are eligible for a FREE screening and assessment. To access these services, please contact the Early Intervention Program. Utilizing the program’s help could greatly improve quality of life for children served.

What We Provide

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Greene County Human Services Department is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for an Early Intervention Provider of Service.  The agency would provide services to families and children age Birth to Three in Greene County, PA.  Provider(s) submitting a proposal must have the following discipline available for provision:

Licensed Physical Therapist

Other beneficial resources may include: Developmental Specialist, Licensed Speech Language Pathologist, Licensed Occupational Therapist, Licensed Social Worker, Teacher of the Hearing Impaired, and Teacher of the Visually Impaired.

Early Intervention Fliers

1. WHO CAN MAKE A REFERRAL?
Anyone can make a referral. Referrals are welcome from parents, family, other service agencies, hospitals and physicians. Call 724-852-5276 for more information.

2. ARE THERE INCOME GUIDELINES TO QUALIFY?
There are NO income guidelines. Any qualifying child can receive the services at no cost to the family regardless of income.

3. WHAT AREAS ARE ASSESSED AT THE EVALUATION?
Health summary, vision, hearing, communication (receptive and expressive), fine motor, gross motor, cognitive, social/emotional, adaptive.

4. HOW DOES A CHILD QUALIFY FOR EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES?
Children may qualify if there is a 25 percent delay in any area; they may also qualify by diagnosis or by clinical opinion.

5. WHAT TYPES OF SERVICES CAN A CHILD RECEIVE?
Special instruction, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, vision services, nutrition services, hearing, social work and service coordination.

A YEAR OF EARLY INTERVENTION

STEP ONE: REFERRAL - Can be made by anyone

STEP TWO: INTAKE WITH SERVICE COORDINATION

STEP THREE: MULTIDISICIPLINARY EVALUATION WITH INDEPENDENT EVALUATOR, SERVICE COORDINATION AND FAMILY
 
STEP FOUR: MEETING HELD TO REVIEW THE RESULTS OF THE MULTIDISICIPLINARY EVALUATION AND PLAN FOR SERVICES

STEP FIVE: SERVICES BEGIN IN THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT (This is where the child is located throughout the day. First service must start within 14 calendar days of the MDE being written.)

STEP SIX: THREE-MONTH REVIEW (Progress monitoring and attendance record shared with Service Coordination and family)

STEP SEVEN: SIX-MONTH REVIEW (Progress monitoring and attendance record shared with Service Coordination and family) 

STEP EIGHT: NINE-MONTH REVIEW  (Progress monitoring and attendance record shared with Service Coordination and family) 

STEP NINE: ANNUAL REVIEW - A new Multidisiciplinary Evaluation will be scheduled to determine continued eligibility. Team reviews concerns and priorities. An new plan is implemented if needed.

Parent training, workshops and networking are offered through our LICC. The LICC is a group of parents and professionals involved in some manner with the Early Intervention program. This group meets at least 4 times per year to discuss and plan continuing/improving the E.I. program. The LICC also sponsors special events, trainings, workshops, etc. throughout the year at no cost to the families. Though membership is not required, it is encouraged and those parents attending will be compensated for their participation/attendance. Past activities have included: Story Hour, playgroups, field trips, and trainings to address; relationship building, potty training, budgeting, and more.
